OnlyOffice / Euro-Office split (2026): The European fork Euro-Office reached 1.0 in June 2026 and ships bundled in Nextcloud Hub 26 Spring. Ascensio disputes the fork on AGPL-3.0 §7 grounds (the FSF and AGPL author Bradley Kuhn side with the fork) and has suspended its OnlyOffice/Nextcloud partnership. The ArtCraft Craft Apps
WordCraft, GridCraft and DeckCraft are three of the fourteen applications in Storytold’s Craft family: clean-room reimplementations of Word, Excel and PowerPoint, written from scratch in Rust and dual-licensed Apache-2.0 OR MIT.
They differ from everything else in this category in two ways. First, they are individual applications rather than a suite – no shared database, no mail merge, no common macro language across them. Second, every one of them exposes a headless CLI, a JSON control channel and an MCP server, so an agent can drive the real application to produce genuine .docx, .xlsx and .pptx with correct styles and structure, rather than template-stuffing a file.
All three are at 0.x and labelled in development. Format round-trip fidelity against complex real-world documents is unverified and is the first thing to test before recommending any of them.
