Web App with SSO
A Web App with SSO is a web application that integrates with ResorsIT single sign-on, so users authenticate once (through the platform identity provider) and reach the app without a separate login. The tool supports OIDC or SAML, natively or through a plugin.
How ResorsIT integrates it
In platform terms a Web App with SSO becomes one of two application types, depending on where it runs:
- Proxy app – ResorsIT self-hosts the web app behind its reverse proxy on the platform network. Identity is handled by the platform; the app trusts the proxy.
- External app – the app runs elsewhere (typically SaaS, or self-hosted where it needs protocols beyond HTTP/S) and is reached over the internet with SSO, without being placed behind the proxy.
Either way the user gets a Hub tile and a seamless sign-on.
Why it takes precedence
A web app that supports SSO is labelled here even if it could also be installed on a server – SSO integration is the richer, primary way ResorsIT would adopt it. Use Deployment Payload only for tools where the web modes do not apply.
If a web app has no SSO, it is a Web App without SSO instead – though SSO is only one way in. A tool that cannot federate may still be reached through another access method, such as forward-auth or LDAP.
